In the past two weeks we have made some changes at Beit Shalom to reflect the needs of people coming to volunteer or visit. Moving beds, closets (Israel mostly does not have closets- you buy one!), changing rooms a bit... Efficiency but with the same classic look we have had since the beginning.
I am very grateful for two guests, Lars from Denmark and Tibor from Hungary/Israel. Since we have no volunteers they offered their services.
They have been patient and kind and attentive to move furniture where I want it- upstairs or down, one bedroom or the next. But yesterday they went beyond the call of duty! There was a large, I mean GADOL, cupboard using up a lot of space in one bedroom. It was a great cupboard and held a lot of things, but I needed it out of that room and in another. We took half of it apart (well, it sorta fell apart) but we saved the second half.
Now to move it out and into the room I have chosen. Keeping in mind this is Israel, the ceilings are not the same height from one room to the next and this is a TALL cupboard. With much manuevering, sweat (its August!), grunts and groans, noises from the cupboard as it was moved (I was SURE there was no creature inside...), watching as it threatened several times to disintegrate... they did it! They moved the cupboard into the room for storage! Yay!!!!! For the first time we have a small room to use for storage and have a shelf unit to organize our things in cubbies spread over the house- this is so awsome!
Amazing how easily we can be pleased sometimes. :)
Bless God, I am thrilled. Of course, now that their work is done, mine is just beginning...
Blessings to you, Lars and Tibor.
And you, come visit us sometime. The Shalom Room, Oil of Gladness and Rose of Sharon have been refreshed and prepared... apparently just for you. :)
Peace to you!
